Tips on Buying Quality Clothing

Be a Savvy Shopper! Simple Tips for Purchasing Quality
Children’s Clothing

Shopping is always fun because you never know what treasure
you’re going to find. If you’re searching for baby clothes,
girl’s clothing or boy’s clothes, the choices are endless.
How do you know, though, if those jeans are going to last the
whole winter or if they’ll only be worn a few times before the
hem begins to shred? Below are a few important tips to keep in
mind when shopping for quality children’s clothing. The cost
difference might be a little higher than what you’re used to
paying, but the quality will definitely outshine the price.
You’ll find it’s a small price to pay for clothes that will
last longer and will look great well into next season.

Durability is key! Check the seams on the garment to ensure they
are held together by sturdy thread and are stitched tightly.
When buying a pair of shorts, chances are your little one will
be in them a lot during the hot summer months. You want to make
sure the shorts will last after several times of your child
playing in them. The zipper should be sewed tightly and move
with ease up and down with little effort. The pockets should
also be stitched tightly, allowing for your child to carry their
new toy in it without the seams coming undone.

Attention to detail. Quality clothing has a tremendous amount of
detail, whether or not it’s intricate beadwork or subtle
sequins or buttons. The detail and time it takes for the garment
to be made is longer and makes the overall quality better and
more desirable. Pay attention to the pair of capris you are
comparing to buy for your little girl. They might look similar,
but the one pocket is plain while the other has fun beading in
the shape of a flower. The belt might also look the same, but
upon further inspection the quality item has a soft pink ribbon
while the lesser quality item has a hard, plastic belt. Details
may seem small, but they make a huge difference, especially in
quality clothing.

Easy care is easy! Always check the garment care label before
you purchase the item. If your little boy gets ice cream all
over the front of his new shirt, can you put it in the washing
machine right away or does it have to be dry cleaned or hand
washed? Quality clothing should have low maintenance when it
comes to cleaning them. By reading the labels and washing the
items correctly as the manufacturer recommends, you will extend
the life of your garment and keep your investment a good one.

Soft fabrics are good fabrics. Would you prefer to have your
infant wearing soft, smooth fabrics or harsh, rough fabrics
against their skin? Smooth fabrics such as cotton feel great
against the skin and last a long time with the proper care.
Lower quality fabrics, such as polyester, might be slightly
cheaper to purchase, but the comfort and longevity of the item
will suffer because your child won’t be comfortable and
you’ll wind up purchasing more items to make them feel and
look better.

If you follow these guidelines, then purchasing that next
birthday gift for your child will be a cinch.
